ATTENTION: before you start reading, know that I am aware of the age gaps in the books, but in my story Tom riddle is only one year older than Lily (who's the same age as you) but he is still in the same year (5th) which means they are aged 15-16 (Tom's 16). Same with other characters that are supposed to be a lot older.

You found yourself looking at your ticket,

“Platform 9 ¾.” You whisper to yourself while looking at the kings cross’s platform numbers. Unsure of how to find Hogwarts express you ask a nearby employee for help.

But he gives you a cold sneer “I’m in no time for jokes” – he says while turning around to help an old lady with her baggage.

Dumbfounded you turn to look at platform numbers once again. All you see is number 9 on the left and number 10 on the right.

“Come on! We’ll be late for Hogwarts” – you soon after hear a shout of a woman behind you.

It was a girl about the same age as you, with ginger, long hair, looking as enthusiastic as possible. She was rushing towards the wall, pushing on her trolley that was visibly filled with old looking suitcases, very much like yours. That’s how you could tell she was different just like you.
Her parents were behind her, trying to catch up but were smiling nonetheless. Right next to them was a girl who looked older than the young enthusiast.

You watched their family as they approached you and faced the wall.

“Are you going to Hogwarts as well, young lady?” – you heard a voice, it was the mother’s voice. You looked at her and found the family gazing at you. All of them were smiling except the young brunette who did not look like she belonged here.

“Y-yes. But I don’t see such thing as platform 9 ¾” – you answer shortly after.

“Ah, darling, your first time? Well, all you have to do is run towards the wall in-between platforms 9 and 10”

As soon as she figures out you're puzzled expression, she speaks again “Here, Lily will show you”.

The ginger girl, who’s name was apparently Lily, glanced at her mother before rushing to the wall. As soon as you thought she’ll injure herself, she disappears when she comes in contact with it.

“It’s okay” – you hear the same voice. You turn your dazzled face to her, only to see her reaching towards you. As she succeeds, she gently puts her arm on your shoulder and pushes you with ease towards the wall.

Along with her family you find yourself soon on a completely different side of kings cross’s, or at least that’s what it looked like. Hidden place filled with thousands unique looking people.

“Petunia! Give it back!” – you hear Lily yell at her sister who mischievously held red head’s wand.

“This is a confirmation of your freakiness!”  - the brunette yelled out

What seemed to be an argument between sisters, was interrupted by their parents disciplining the older sibling.

“It’s not nice to treat your sister this way!” – mother cried out

Petunia gave her a frown as if saying why can’t I go with her but stays quiet. She gave back her wand.

Bickering suddenly stopped after the loud sound of train siren followed by train conductor’s voice that echoed “All ABOARD!”

This caused you to rush towards the entrance as soon as you were done with your bags, with help of Lily you were all set in few minutes.

On the way to find a seat, you passed many filled rooms with students. Following Lily, you stumble across a guy, wearing glasses, giving a quick smirk to her, which she returned.

Even though they didn’t say anything to each other, you knew there could be something far more than friendship between them.

Soon you and her find empty seats at what was almost the end of the train.

You opened the doors and settled in. Few seconds after, you saw Lily stick her head out through the window, giving a wave and a massive smile to her family. Her parents looked so proud, as if they were about to cry. But not her sister, her sister looked incredibly grumpy.

Few minutes later their faces were no longer to be seen as the train had started moving towards its destination.

Lily now focused on you, sitting opposite her curiosity about you gets the best of her. “Sorry… If I’m rude, are you a transfer student? Because you’re starting this semester later than most.”

By that, she meant you were new when they already had gone through about five years of Hogwarts, and she wondered why.

“I was studying in Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry”

“Oh? Never heard of it. Where is it located?”

“North America” – you answer.

“So what brings you here then?”

“I just felt like changing the environment”

“I see. Well, let me introduce myself. My name is Lily Evans” – she reached out her hand and you shake it “(your name and surname)” – you respond.

“Don’t worry, I’ll show you all around the school, I think Hogwarts provides the best knowledge of magic there is” – she adds, with a slight smile

“And so I’ve heard” - you answer. You were excited and afraid at the same time. You were going to be someone new, you did not know what other students would be like.

Lily noticed you being deep in your thoughts and so she spoke: “There are four houses. Ravenclaw, slytherin, hufflepuff and Gryffindor.” It seemed to capture your attention therefore she added “Ravenclaw house stands for creativity, curiosity and wits. Hufflepuff for Patience, loyalty, honesty. Then there’s slytherin that represents Ambition, talent but manipulation”

your puzzled face asked before she could finish “which one are you in?”

Lily responded with a slight grin to your curiosity: “Gryffindor. We’re strong, brave and passionate”

“I think I’ll be sorted into---“

Your words were interrupted by a knock on the door inside your wagon chamber.

You turned to see a guy who was opening the door. While he stood in-between the gap so it wouldn’t close, he turned to you and Lily to ask a question, his face puzzled.

“You seen Severus?” – he had curly hair, parted in two ways. Voice was soft but spoken in low, fast tone.

He glanced at you for a second, but then gazed at Lily, his expression cold.

Lily did not seem happy to see him either, she felt the same vibe of coldness. “No, I have not” – she finally responded.

The man gave you one last glance, leaving you with chills before he let go of the door and headed down the wagon.

Shortly after, you turn to Lily

“Who is he?” – you ask

“Tom Riddle. There’s something incredibly odd about that guy. Maybe it’s just because he’s from slytherin” – she responds, her smile was now gone and had turned into a more serious expression.

“Is slytherin bad then?”

“Not necessarily. I mean Snape’s in Slytherin, and we grew up together. He’s really intelligent and kind” – she said. She faced the door and added: “But I don’t know why Tom would ever need Snape. Neither of them love to socialise.”

You shrug as you don’t know them.

She smiles once again and starts asking you questions. Mostly about your family. You get to know each other and you find out that Lily’s parents are muggles, that Petunia, her sister was never fond of her, or at least did not show it ever since she found out her sister was magical. Petunia found it freaky, or was it just a sign of jealousy?

Skip forward and your stories are interrupted by the sight of Hogwarts. You both realise you’re there and start getting ready to head outside.

You noticed that everyone were wearing different uniforms that only looked the same. The only difference was the symbol and colour scheme. Some had green and black uniforms, others blue and black and etc. Lily had Red and black uniform, with a visible symbol of Gryffindor.

Yours was simply black and white as you were not yet sorted into a house.

Once again your thoughts were interrupted by a shout of a rather large man. He had a medium length brown beard and shoulder length brown hair. He held a lantern and was yelling at people to focus as we were about to approach carriages.

It was dark now

Only four people per carriage was the rule.

Soon after, it was your and Lily’s turn. So you both sat next to each other. However, two extra seats were open and two names were called, letting them know they could join us. It was two guys, one had a familiar face, the face that belonged to a person from your wagon. Tom Riddle. Next to him sat a guy with a pale face, brown eyes and black long hair.

“Severus!” – Lily yelled out to the man

“Hello ,Lily, how have you been?” – he spoke softly

“Great, so glad to see you! I couldn’t get a hold of some of your letters” – she said

“Ah, I see” – he answered, eyes seemed to sadden

While listening to their conversation, you realised you were gazing at them, who were sitting opposite of each other. So you turned to look at somebody who sat opposite of you, who was Tom. He was looking at you, it was a fixed gaze which made you uncomfortable as you had no idea what he was thinking about, his face looked blank.

Some time later and your eyes were fixed on a dazzling view. Hogwarts.
