Impact of the choice: Kitchen knife

You grab Hope’s hand and hold Peter tight and rush out through the other side of the aisle, thinking the sight was too much to handle. You see some people rush past you, most running. As you’re halfway to the exit, you see a woman, about 24 with brown hair and a fringe, get jumped on by a strange woman covered in blood. Her skin looked rotten. Her lips looked dry and eyes were screaming insanity. Her mouth was all bloody. She embraced the woman and bit her in the neck.

Hope looked just as terrified as you did. Peter started crying. You looked to your left and saw Carol with her husband and daughter run out of the store. You looked to the right and saw a young couple holding hands while rushing for canned food at a nearby aisle. Back to your front, the same female who bit the woman has spotted you. She got up slowly and started rushing towards you.

You were forced to head back where you were before, or go around or even find another exit.

You head to the other side and as you walk by, you look at the aisle you were at first, where you first saw a bleeding man and he wasn’t there anymore. All what was left was just a huge puddle of thick blood that seemed to lead somewhere as if the man dragged himself elsewhere.

You quickly come across and employee of the place. It’s a young man, about age of 28-30, tall, dark, short hair and brown eyes. As his eyes meet yours, you notice how terrified he looks. _{”what’s happening?”} - he says, almost like a whisper.

“I wish I knew” – you could hear the sound of your own trembling voice.

You looked down and noticed he was holding something. It was a knife. It looked like it was soaked in blood. You could see his shaking hands.

“wh-who’s is this?” – you say

“He attacked me. I had to” – he cried. “I had to”

Within those words, Hope started crying and Peter was still sobbing. As you try to calm both of them you notice another one of those “things” that don’t even look human anymore come towards you and the man.

“It’s coming! You got to go!” – he looked at you

But before you were able to head towards a completely different direction, another monster came from behind and grabbed the man, biting him on his upper arm.

As he screamed in pain, he dropped his knife and you felt paralyzed. Like you were a statue. You had no idea what was going on around you and why people are eating each other.

You could see it eat the whole arm, crunching on it as if it was the first meal it had in months. The man was screaming loud, crying and begging for help. It seemed to draw even more attention as more of wounded ones have started going towards his screams.

You space out, completely blanking the cries of the children.

All of sudden, you respond to Hope yanking on your arm

“Let’s go! I want to go!!” – she cried.

“Y-yeah. Let’s go” – you answered, still uncovering from the temporary paralysation.

Once again you hold tight the children and before you were about to rush out, you saw the knife on the ground, next to now currently silent mangled body. You decide to quickly reach out for the knife, and with success you grab it. But it did attract the attention of the monster who was feasting on the employee. It got up slowly as you were backing up. And as it started walking towards you, you run away with the kids.

“I want my mummy!” – hope cried

You did not know how to respond. You did not know what was happening and were too busy to find safety. At the other side of the store you did not see an exit. And oddly that part was empty. When you turn around to look at the primary entrance you could still see people rushing towards the aisles, shoplifting. Most of them tried to fight back the monsters by pushing or kicking them.

You saw a man who had a gun. He shot it and the whole store was covered in the sounds of fear, crying and agonies. He shot one of the monsters at the chest area, but it did not die. If anything, it became madder. So it rushed towards the man with a weapon and grabbed him then biting him on his cheek. You could imagine the pain the victim was going through.

You decide to keep it all together and make a run for it. So while still holding Peter, you turn to Hope and tell her to stay close.

As you run, you look to your left at an indoor pharmacy. You could see two dead bodies what looked like an old couple. And like three of the monsters surrounding them, feasting.

You reach the exit but there’s way too many of the attackers. You look around and notice an emergency ladder that leads towards the rooftop.

On the other side, you see a door. It looked secure from what you could of told. Looked like someone was running towards it as well. It could have been a basement or a storage room.
